City Council Discusses Land For Housing And Readdresses Canon Park

The council revisited the issue of the Canon Park property, determining that they will explore selling Parcel A, which is technically part of Canon Park. The Parks Board has recommended against selling the parcel to facilitate housing development and suggested relocating the cannon to the adjacent triangular plot of land across the street. The land is currently zoned R2, which may not accommodate a duplex. An elderly community member expressed interest in senior housing on the site, stating that without it, they may have to leave Wabasha. The Port Authority has already funded surveying of the land, so if it’s not used for housing, the city will need to find funding for the project.
