Dorothy Ann Lenora Senst

Dorothy Ann Lenora Senst, 94, passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2021, at Gundersen St. Elizabeth’s Care Center in Wabasha, MN. Dorothy was born April 16, 1926 in Wabasha County, Millville, MN. She attended rural country schools, Elgin Lutheran School, and Elgin High School. She graduated from the St. Charles Normal Teacher Training school and attended Winona State College. Dorothy then taught school in Wabasha and Winona Counties. On June 12, 1949, she married Ervin C. Senst of Plainview, MN.
After their marriage, they lived in Rochester. Dorothy worked for Mayo Clinic and later for IBM. She retired from IBM in 1987. In September 2000, she and Ervin moved to their lake home in the Wabasha area.
Dorothy was very active in the V.F.W. Auxiliary in Rochester and served as president and also on District and Department committees. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Rochester and enjoyed spending time with family, reading, collecting recipes and cookbooks, and working on crossword puzzles.
Dorothy is survived by sons, Duane (Joelyn) of Waseca, MN and Dennis of Loveland, CO; grandchildren, Betsy (Tim) Senst Koppelman of Cleveland, MN, Steven (Janelle) Senst of La Crescent, MN, Samantha (Jake) Ritthaler, Hunter Senst, and Madison Senst of Loveland, CO, and great-grandchildren, Andrew, and Zackary Senst; William and Sonja Koppelman.
Other survivors include her brother, Jerald (Renee) Ponto of Wyoming, MN; sisters, Lougine Barrett of Utica, MN; Joyce Richmond of Sacramento, CA; Barbara (Richard) Zimny, Jeraldine (James) Gustavson and Sharon (Wesley) Glasenapp of Rochester, MN; sisters- in- law Shirley Ponto of Plainview, MN; and Eloise Beveridge of Rosemont, MN. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin; her parents; brothers, Earl, and Ervin Ponto; brothers- in- law, Roland Barrett and James Beveridge; and sister- in- law, Judy Ponto.
The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 26, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rochester with Pastor Joel Haak officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow the service at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester. Masks are required and please practice social distancing.
