Jerome “Jerry” Kohn

Jerome “Jerry” Kohn, 81 of Wabasha, passed away Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Emplify – St. Elizabeth Health Care Center, Wabasha. Jerry was born December 13, 1943, in Wabasha to Florence (Plein) and Matthew Kohn. He graduated from St. Felix High School and then from Winona State University with a degree in teaching. He was formerly married to Jean Davidson and together they had a daughter Jerrah. While teaching in Onalaska, WI, he was drafted into the US Army, serving mainly in Germany. Upon his discharge, he lived in Omaha, NE, as a sales representative and then moved to Manitou Springs, CO and operated a tavern and enjoyed being behind the bar. He was known by different nicknames: J.J., Jerry, Cowboy to name a few. He was a talented baseball and basketball player. He is survived by his daughter Jerrah Kohn; siblings: Richard Kohn, Joni (Lloyd) O’Brien, Bonnie Kohn, Rhonda (Eric) Welburn and Matthew Kohn; six nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother Thomas and a niece Sue Kirsch. Funeral Mass was held 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at St. Felix Catholic Church, Wabasha, with Fr. Tom Loomis officiating. Interment was at St. Felix Cemetery, Wabasha. Visitation began at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church. A celebration of his life was held Wednesday, at the West Side Tavern, Wabasha after the burial. Services entrusted to Abbott Funeral Home & Crematory, Wabasha, MN.
