Margaret Mary Speedling
Margaret Mary Speedling, 96 of Wabasha, passed away July 2, 2022. She was born December 20, 1925, in Theilman, MN to Ernest and Catherine (Marx) Klein. Wabasha was her home for almost her entire life. She graduated from St. Felix High School, Wabasha.
Margaret married Dennis Speedling on May 14, 1955, and they were blessed with 67 years together. She was a devoted wife, mother and a good and faithful servant to the church.
Margaret was a legal secretary for many years. She began her career with the Martin Healy Law Office in Wabasha, and she worked at First Trust in St. Paul. Margaret was a long-standing fixture at the Ekstrand Law Office, Wabasha, where she worked for many years until her retirement.
Margaret enjoyed cooking, watching her birds, reading and most of all family. She and Dennis enjoyed many travel adventures, including winter get aways in Arizona.
She is survived by her husband Dennis; children: Marcia (Greg) Carlson; Mike (Barb) Speedling; Cindy (Jim) Scipioni; Gayle (Bob) Melhouse; Grandchildren: Katie (Aaron) Johnson; Christina (Jon) Scipioni; Andi Dash; Margaret Scipioni; Kendra (Tony) Speedling; Kyle Speedling; Andrew (Mary Kathryn) Scipioni; Shelley (Chris) Zimmerman and Malorey Wegner; Great grandchildren: Olivia, Alasdair, Vincent, Luciano, Cole, Beau, Alaya, Ayden and Charlie Ann; Sisters: Doreen Stamschror and Helen Schilz; Sisters-in-law: Berneice Graner, Jean Speedling and Ruth Klein and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings: Betty Schmidt, Anita Norton, and Gerald Klein; and a grandson Devin Speedling.
Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2022, at St. Felix Catholic Church, Wabasha, with Rev. Prince Raja officiating. Interment will be at St. Felix Cemetery, Wabasha.
Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, July 8, 2022, at Abbott Funeral Home, Wabasha with a prayer service at 6 p.m. On Saturday, the visitation will begin at 10 a.m. at the church.
