Mark Joel Buckman

Mark Joel Buckman, 64, died peacefully at his residence in Red Wing, Minnesota following a short illness. He was born on November 18, 1960, in Wabasha, Minnesota to Harold “Bucky” and Alice (Tverberg) Buckman.Mark grew up in Wabasha, Minnesota. He shared fond memories of growing up in his father’s funeral home, Buck-man Schierts Funeral Home. He graduated as valedictorian of his class from Wabasha Kellogg High School in 1979. He then attended St. Olaf College in Northfield and graduated cum lade with a BA degree in economics in1983. He then received his master’s in business administration in 1990 from an accelerated program through the Carlton School of Business at the University of Minnesota. He had many treasured friends from his time at both in high school and St. Olaf.He was married in 1989 to Tracy Wick, and they had two children, Abbie and Laura. They were later divorced. Mark spent many years in various finance roles and built lifelong friendships with colleagues. He was very proud of the years he spent caring for his mother, Alice. Mark could often be found enjoying a latte in local coffee shops or frequenting lo-cal restaurants. He was a loyal Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Twins fan and almost never missed an opportunity to watch a game.Survived by his daughters Abbie (James) McGee and Laura (Jacob Markgraf) Buckman. His siblings Ann Marie (Otto) Hemmah, Dan (Sheri) Buckman, Pam (Jullian “Pudge”) Laska, his grandchildren Carson, Vaeda and Everlie McGee and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents Alice and Harold "Bucky" Buckman. Mark's family expresses a very heartfelt thank you to Benedictine Living Community in Red Wing for their genuine and compassionate care of Mark for the past several years, and to St. Croix Hospice for their involvement in his final days.The funeral service for Mark will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 21, at Faith Lutheran Church in Wabasha with Pastor Diane Johnson officiating. The burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery in Wabasha. Friends and family may visit one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
