Richard ‘Dick’ Schurhammer

Richard “Dick” Schurhammer was born on October 19, 1931, to Lawrence and Linda Schurhammer at St. Elizabeth Hospital and on March 14, 2022, he passed away at the same hospital.
Dick said you don’t need to know all the details. If you thought he was a nice guy, fine!
He married Sally Eggenberger on July 5, 1955 and celebrated 66 years together. He is survived by his wife, Sally. Children, Daniel Schurhammer, Denise & Tom Wagner, Kara & Jon Kohner, Dana Schurhammer, Sarah & Dave Bronner, John Schurhammer, Michelle Thurber, Heidi & Tony Johnson. Grandchildren, Blaze & Nicole Wagner, Corey, Jessica and Courtney Schurhammer, Ethan & Kelsey Kohner, Chase & Dillon Thurber. Great Grandchildren Emma & Alison Johnson, Maxine Kohner and Sophia, Kyson & Ryker Thurber.
He was preceded in death by his son David J. Schurhammer, his parents and sister, Gloria Emerson.
He served two years in Korea. He worked over 3 decades at Big Joe Flour. In July 1982 he opened a gallery-frame shop in downtown Wabasha that he and Sally managed for 40 years.
He was the most happy when he was home with family and the grand and great-grandchildren.
The visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, March 26, 2022, at Abbott Funeral Home, Wabasha with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
