Susan ‘Young’ Richmond

Susan (Young) Richmond, 81, died in a tragic house fire at their home in Ypsilanti, Michigan on March 15, 2025. Her husband, Ray Richmond, was treated for burns at the burn unit of the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan, and is currently living with his sister in that city. Susan had been the caregiver for Ray in recent years, after a debilitating disease caused mobility problems for him.Susan was the youngest daughter of Ray and Shila Young, a former publisher of the Wabasha Herald, She grew up in Wabasha and was a graduate of Wabasha High School. She attended University of Minnesota in the 1960s.She is survived by her husband and a sister, Janet Boese of Mankato, Minnesota and a brother, Thomas Young of Huntsville, Alabama. Susan and Ray had no children.
