Allen Duncanson
Allen Duncanson, 94, Sun City Center, Fla., passed peacefully in his sleep on Aug. 31, 2019.
He was born in Mondovi, Wis. He served in World War II as a Navy pilot, received his Bachelor of Science degree from UW-Eau Claire, and was appointed Postmaster of Mondovi by President Harry Truman. His lifelong career was in the United States Postal Service in Mondovi, Wis., Rapid City, S.D., St Paul, Minn., and then Dayton, Ohio, as Postmaster, Philadelphia, Penn., as Postmaster, and Postal Manager for the state of Florida. He received numerous awards and recognition for his service and support of education and advancement of women and minorities in the USPS.
Al retired in Florida, in 1982, and was a longtime resident of Sun City Center, where he was a regular at Caloosa Golf & Country Club.
He is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Eleanor; two sons, Bob and Linc; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all who cherish loving memories of him.
