Buffaloes finish up season; Laehn advances to State

In the past week, the Mondovi Buffaloes competed in the WIAA Regional and Sectional meets at Mondovi and Amery. At the regional meet on May 27, due to the rain, multiple Mondovi athletes qualified for the sectional meet, which was on the 29th.
For girls at Regionals, Shanna Laehn qualified in all of her events, first place in the 100 hurdles, 100 dash and 300 hurdles; Bailey Van Den Heuvel qualified with second in shot put and fourth in both the 100 hurdles and discus; Kateri Hansen qualified in the 1600 with fourth place; Amanda Rud qualified with fourth in the 3200; Liz Berns took eighth in high jump; Haley Poeschel took second in the pole vault and qualified; Claire Bee took fifth in triple jump; and Amelia Flaskrud took fifth in shot put. The girls’ 4x100 took fifth and the 4x200 took sixth.
For the boys, Brett Bursaw took seventh in the 100 meter dash; Marc Kluge took third in the 1600 and qualified for sectionals, Zach Kluge took fifth in the 3200; Ryan Jans took second in the 110 hurdles and qualified; Shane Van Roo took fourth in the 300 hurdles and qualified; Dylan Kowalczyk took fifth in shot put; and Hunter Evans took third in high jump.The boys’ 4x100 took fifth, the 4x200 took sixth, the 4x400 took fourth, and qualifying.
At Sectionals, Laehn qualified for state in all of her events, the 100 dash, 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles, being the only track member to qualify for state this year.Congratulations to Shanna on her achievements, and to all of the other track members on their progress throughout the year. Laehn will run her events on Friday morning, June 5, competing in the preliminaries.
