Carolyn Lehman

Carolyn Lois Dutter Lehman passed away peacefully on Monday, May 1, 2017, at her daughter Caron’s home, in Tallahassee, Fla., where she had been residing since the fall of 2016.
After being diagnosed with cancer, Carolyn spent her final weeks in the care of her daughters and enjoyed visits with her children and grandchildren. In her final moments, she was surrounded by her children, Caron, Linda and Jim, and her grandchildren, Joanna Lehman and Michelle Spencer.
Carolyn was born on Feb. 10, 1927, in rural Mondovi, Wis. After graduating from Mondovi High School in 1944, Carolyn completed a secretarial program at Eau Claire Vocational School.
Carolyn married Ken Lehman on July 28, 1945. They had three children, Jim, Linda and Caron.
Carolyn later worked as a nursing assistant at the Mondovi Lutheran Home, and in the office at Mondovi High School. She always enjoyed when former Mondovi students remembered her.
Ken and Carolyn moved their family to their new home on E. Grant Ave., Eau Claire, in July of 1966. Carolyn began working as a secretary at UW-Eau Claire in 1967, until her retirement in 1988.
Carolyn loved cooking and baking, and was known for her lefse, pies, cakes and potato salad. Her door was always open and she would welcome you with fresh coffee and a delicious fresh baked treat or a home-cooked meal at her table. For many years, Ken and Carolyn would go out dancing to polka music on most weekends. When they weren’t dancing, polka music could often be heard playing in their home.
Carolyn will be missed by her son, Jim (JoAnn) of Eleva; daughter Linda (George Brown) of Tallahassee, Fla.; daughter, Caron Spencer of Tallahassee, Fla.; her loving grandchildren, Jenny Studer, Joanna Lehman (Josh Dutton), Julia (Chuck) Caldwell, Pamela (Patrick) Garrett, Christopher (Julie) Brown, Michelle Spencer, James Spencer (Caroline Gaynor); her great-grandchildren, Christopher Studer, Rachel Brown, Caroline Smith, Wesley Caldwell, Beatrix Lehman Dutton; sister, Dorothy Moe; many loving nieces, nephews, great- nieces and nephews, and great-great- nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a thank you to the special neighbors and friends of the Mountain Ash Condos in Eau Claire, where Carolyn and Kenny lived for 13 years.
