Charles Meyer

Charles W. Meyer, 76, of Elk Mound, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 11, 2016.
Charles, also known as Chuck or Charlie, was born Aug. 23, 1939, in Chippewa Falls, to Wilburt Meyer and Mary (Wall) Meyer. Charles was the oldest of four children and grew up in Elk Mound, attending school there and working at Twin Elm Farms, the family farm. After graduation, Charles joined the Army in 1957. He attended boot camp at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo. and was then stationed in Germany, where he built bridges and was chosen to be a member of the Army’s rifle team. He was honorably discharged in February 1963. He and his brothers bought their dad out of the family business in 1964 and in 1970 joined his mother’s brother, Frank, in selling pipelines for dairy farms all over West Central Wisconsin. He and his brothers installed pipelines, earning many rewards for excellence in sales and service. In the 1980s Charles took over the pipeline business, Twin Elm Farm Supply, while his brothers continued to build other parts of the business. He retired from Twin Elm Farm Supply in 2013.
Charles met Patricia Loewenhagen in the spring of 1969, while working on a pipeline at the farm where she was employed. They were married June 27, 1970, and recently celebrated their 46th anniversary. Together they had five children and 10 grandchildren.
Charles was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Elk Mound and a member of the Elk Mound community his whole life. He was an avid reader and enjoyed history and stories of past military exploits. He enjoyed amusement parks, fireworks, and took his family on numerous road trips across the country.
He is survived by his wife Patricia; their children, Gerrick Meyer, Threasa Meyer, Derynn Meyer (Chad Smigla), Grant Meyer (Sarah), Gabriel Meyer (Jessica); his grandchildren, Kendra and Raine Meyer, Thea, Jaidyn and Paetra Lessard, Katlyne and Elizabeth Meyer, and Harley, Tamara and Keira Smalstig; brothers, John (Sandy) and Tom Meyer.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Margaret (Robert) Grady.
Services were held at Fuller-Speckien-Hulke Funeral Home, Eau Claire, at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 19. with military honors. Father Joseph Nakwah officiated.
