Duane Raymond Schuch, 76, of rural Mondovi, died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2018, at his home.
He was born on July 31, 1941, in Eau Claire, to Raymond and Mildred (Hartung) Schuch. He grew up in the Eleva area and graduated from Mondovi High School in 1960. He first worked in construction before starting his own dairy farm in the Eau Galle area. Over the years, he worked as a logger for Schlosser Lumber, as a fertilizer driver for Black’s Valley Ag, and for RDO as a tractor driver. Duane was a longtime member of the Eau Galle Sportsman’s Club. He loved to hunt and fish, especially in Canada. He was known for his parties at the Chetek camper. He was known for his sense of humor, flip flop chicken, and especially loved to tease his grandkids.
He is survived by his fiancé, Theresa Ableidinger of Mondovi; three children, Kelly (Fred) Seelhoff of Greeley, Colo., Rodney (Laurie) Schuch of Eau Galle, Bradley (Joanna) Schuch of Elk Mound; three stepchildren, Kim (Tom) Wood of Durand, Chad Ableidinger of Mondovi, Kaye (Brad Powell) Ableidinger of Eau Claire; eight grandchildren, KateLynn and Camyran Seelhoff, Adam and Aaron Wold, Kimberly, Anna and Ellie Schuch, Emily Ableidinger; four siblings, Bernice (Glen) Fedie of Mondovi, Eileen (Gary) Fahnel of Durand, Dennis (Sharon) Schuch of Whitehall, Douglas (Sharon) Schuch of Whitehall; two sisters-in-law, Zona Schuch of Menomonie and Sandy Schuch of Eleva; many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Michael Schuch; parents, Raymond and Mildred Schuch; two brothers, Jerry and Richard Schuch.
Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 1, at Kjentvet-Smith Funeral Home, Mondovi. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until the time of the service. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
