E-S runners compete at Durand, handle wet course at Mel-Min

On Thursday, Sept. 24, the Eleva-Strum cross country team traveled to Durand. There were 129 runners in the boys’ race, and Evan Seguin placed seventh with a time of 18:55. Next in for the Cardinals was Isaiah Loewenhagen, who placed 69th with a time of 21:56. Logan Odell, still recovering from his injury, placed 114th with a time of 25:43. The last runner for the boys was Ben Krochmalski who placed 122nd with a time of 27:21. Running the girls race was Annabelle Vikingson, who placed 93rd out of 100 runners with a time of 33:00.

On Monday, Sept. 28, the team geared up for their meet in Melrose-Mindoro. The course had a sand hill, but the rest was flat and wet. Starting the team off with yet another personal best was Seguin. He placed 7th out of 70 runners in the boys’ race, clocking a time of 18:01. Loewenhagen finished 51st with a time of 21:37, followed by Krochmalski in 63rd with a time of 25:04. Wrapping up the boys’ race was Odell, finishing 68th with a time of 26:58. It was raining throughout the girls’ race, but Vikingson managed to place 52nd out of 57 runners with a time of 31:38.

The E-S cross country team will head to Black River Falls for a meet on Tuesday, Oct. 6, and the team will host its annual E-S Invite on Thursday, Oct. 8.
