Eddie Donald Wollum

Eddie Donald “Don” Wollum, 89, of Rock Falls, died Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2018, at Dove Health-West, in Eau Claire.
Don was born on Aug. 26, 1928, in Eau Claire. He was the oldest son of Eddie B. and Delia (Kilde) Wollum. Don grew up on the home farm in Rock Falls and graduated from Durand High School.
After high school, Don went to work for Badger Breeders in Shawano, where he met his future wife, Georgia Thulien. Don and Georgia were united in marriage on June 14, 1958, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, in Iola.
After the death of his dad, Don and Georgia returned to the family farm, where they farmed and raised their family. He also worked for Tri-State Breeders for 37 years, retiring in 1991. Don was named Pepin County Outstanding Businessman of the year, Dunn County Family Farm Of The Year, hosted the Dunn County Dairy Breakfast in 1999, and the farm became a Century Farm in 1994. He never really retired from farming as he helped his sons farm the rest of his life.
Don was an active member of Rock Creek Lutheran Church. As the church’s next door neighbor, he was always there to open the doors and turn on the heat. He was also an active member of the Sons of Norway and took care of the Meridean-Rock Creek Lutheran Cemetery grounds and books for over 50 years.
Don and Georgia enjoyed traveling, taking trips to Norway, Switzerland, Germany and Hawaii. He also enjoyed sports, especially the Badgers, Packers, Brewers and the Durand High School sports.
Don is survived by his wife of 60 years, Georgia; children, Daniel of Rock Falls, David of Durand, Mark of Rock Falls, Andrea Wollum of Rock Falls; brother, Orvin (Lenora) of Eau Claire; two brothers-in-law, Allie Thulien and Jim (Sue) Thulien, both of Iola; sister-in-law, Jeanine Helwig of Eau Claire; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael; brother, Jerome; sister-in-law, Ethel Thulien.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 13, 2018, at Rock Creek Lutheran Church, in Rock Falls (rural Mondovi). Rev. Paul Oppedahl officiated. Burial was in the Meridean-Rock Creek Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation was from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday at the Rhiel Funeral Home, in Durand, and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
