Eldora Odegard

Eldora Bernice Odegard, 80, of Mondovi, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 7, 2019, at the American Lutheran Communities, with her family by her side.
She was born on Oct. 12, 1938, in Eau Claire County, to Arnold and Eleanor (Simonson) Everson. She grew up on her family’s farm and graduated from Mondovi High School, Class of 1957.
On Oct. 18, 1958, she married Ronald Coleman Odegard, at Drammen Lutheran Church. Three girls were born to this marriage.
Eldora worked at various clerical jobs until she began helping her husband as a bookkeeper at Buffalo Valley Building Center, the lumber yard, in Mondovi, they purchased in 1985. After they closed their business, she cared for her grandchildren until they went to school and pursued a part-time position at Gary’s Shop Kwik. She was also a member of Central Lutheran Church, where in her early days, she enjoyed teaching pre-school Sunday school. Eldora was a proud member of the Mondovi American Legion Auxiliary Post 154. She liked to sew and was terrific at mending garments. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, doing arts and crafts, going to thrift sales, and reading biographies.
Eldora is survived by her three daughters, Jacqie (Jim) Teigen of Mondovi, Joee (Steve) Cooley of Altoona, and Jeri (Jeff) Parr of Eau Claire; four grandchildren, Jillian (Matt) Zerbe, Adam (Bria) Lindstrom, Jocelyn (Travis) Holmes, Jayme Teigen; five great-granddaughters, Evelyn Mae, Jadalyn Dia, Penelope Angeline, Stella Marie and Amaya Lynette; brother, Dave (Lonnie) Everson of Eleva; step-sister, Sharon Koesterman of Chippewa Falls; step-brother, Donald Peterson of Eau Claire; two sisters-in-law, Vonnie Everson of Eleva and Arleen Odegard of Oakdale, Min.; two brothers-in-law, Vernon Mercer of Eleva and Merle Urness of Mondovi; many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Ronald Odegard; parents; two brothers, Curt and Phil Everson; two sisters, Karen Mercer and Shirley Urness; brother-in-law, William Garfield “Wimpy” Odegard; two nieces, Becky and Kristi.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16, at Central Lutheran Church, in Mondovi, with Pastor Rolf Morck officiating. Private burial will follow in Oak Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.
