Elnora "Ellie" Haigh
Elnora Mae “Ellie” Haigh, 83, of Mondovi, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2019, in Rockford, Ill.
She was born on Dec. 16, 1935, in Dixon, Ill, the daughter of John and Irma (Willey) Bothe. Ellie graduated from Amboy High School. She graduated from nursing school at Rockford Memorial Hospital, in Illinois, as a Registered Nurse. Ellie then went on to the University of Iowa, where she received her Bachelor’s degree.
Ellie married Levi Haigh on Feb. 20, 1960, and to this union three children were born. She and Levi moved to Seattle, Wash., where they started their family. Later they moved to Minneapolis, Minn., until 1975, when they finally settled in Mondovi. Ellie worked at many different hospitals before moving to Mondovi and, coincidently, passed away at the same hospital that she received her nursing license from.
Ellie was a member of Prince of Peace Church. She had a fondness for animals, especially cats, goats and birds. She also enjoyed reading. Ellie was devoted to her family and loved caring for them. She was looking forward to spoiling her first great-granddaughter, who was just born on March 1. Ellie will be greatly missed by her loving family and dear friends.
Ellie is survived by her husband of 59 years, Levi; three children, Ellen (Tim) Urness, Lyle and Carla; six grandsons, Keenan Blackcoon, Ian “Hunter” (Amelia) Blackcoon, Eli Blackcoon, Josh (Claire) Urness, Zack Urness and Nick Urness; one great-granddaughter, Olive Mae Blackcoon; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; teenage brother, Danny Bothe.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 7, at 1 p.m., at Prince of Peace Church, Mondovi, with Rev. Ileana Garcia-Soto officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Oak Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the church from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
