Flood waters threaten area homes, damage Eleva business

Heavy rains that hit the Mondovi, Eleva and Strum areas Sunday night, Sept. 6, caused significant flooding along the Buffalo River. The typically-calm waterway turned into a raging torrent as the local area picked up 6 - 8 inches of rain in a short span of time. The Strum dam breached shortly before noon on Monday, Sept. 7, sending a high volume of water down the Buffalo River and causing further flooding in the Eleva and Mondovi areas to the west.
