Gary Schultz

Gary Lee Schultz, 74, of Eau Claire, Wis., died at his home on Sunday, June 25, 2017.
Gary was born Nov. 26, 1942, to Romie and Johanna Schultz, of Mondovi. He was a proud Mondovi Buffalo graduate.
Gary served our country during the Vietnam War, where he received a purple heart for his bravery and courage. He was discharged in 1969 and came home to attend UW-Eau Claire. This is where he met the love of his life, Linda Lee Popp. They were united in marriage on Sept. 5, 1970, and celebrated over 46 wonderful years.
Gary worked in finance in the healthcare industry close to 40 years and some of that time he held the Chief Financial Officer position. His career spanned from Milwaukee, Wis., to Tomahawk, Wis., to Albert Lea, Minn., and then back to Eau Claire, Wis.
Gary and Linda loved to travel and shared many memories in Las Vegas, Gulf Shores, and cruising the Caribbean, Hawaii and Alaska. Additionally, they loved spending their summers fishing and spending time with family and friends at their cabin in Balsam Lake, Wis.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Schultz of Eau Claire; daughter, Stacy (Brian) Jachymowski of Ramsey, Minn.; daughter, Stefanie (Tony) Betley of Eau Claire; grandchildren, Brandon, Eva and Lucy Jachymowski, and Brooke and Kendra Betley; sister, Joyce Trusler; brother, Gordon Schultz; sister-in-law, Fran Schultz; many nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.
We would like to express our appreciation and gratitude to Dr. Basu and the entire oncology staff at Mayo Clinic in Eau Claire. They have truly touched our hearts and become a part of our family.
A memorial service was held on Thursday, June 29, at 2 p.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church, Eau Claire. Pastor Sarah Semmler Smith and Pastor Dave Whelan officiated. A visitation was held on Wednesday, June 28, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Fuller-Speckien-Hulke Funeral Home, Rudolph Road, Eau Claire, and again on Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at the church. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date in the Lakeview Cemetery in Eau Claire.
