George Garlick

George Edward Garlick passed away on May 7, 2019, at the age of 88 years.
George will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 66 years, Joan; children, Debbie (George) Niles, Edward (Stacey) Garlick, Mark (Nancy) Garlick, Mary Jo (Garnold) LaBair, Bruce (Julie) Garlick, Joe (Sharon) Garlick; grandchildren, Nicole (Michael) Merrell, Troy (Stephanie) LaBair, Savannah Niles, Chelsy (Nick) Kuhlow, David Garlick, Mitch Garlick, Lydia Garlick, John Garlick, Sam Garlick, Tom Garlick, Anna Garlick, Jack Garlick, Katie Garlick and Max (Ashlie) Kimmerle; three great-grandchildren, Brianna Merrell, Theodore LaBair and Jameson Kuhlow. He was treasured by his nieces and nephews and all who had the privilege of knowing him. George is survived by his brother, Herbert Garlick.
George was preceded in death by his parents, Fanny and Herbert Garlick, as well as his siblings, Julie Vasquez, Sam Garlick and Helen Castle.
George served in the Air Force as Sergeant on the motor pool during the Korean War, in Denver, Colo. He worked for 14 years at Tri-State Breeders before working at the post office in Mondovi for 23 years, followed by Postmaster in Maiden Rock for five years. He also drove ambulance, was a volunteer firefighter, substitute police officer, bus driver, Cub Scout leader, square dance president, Legion Post Commander, and owner of the Garlick’s Arcade.
George’s life was celebrated on May 11, 2019, at Mary Jo LaBair’s residence, and was a testament to the great number of people who were affected by George’s kindness and love. George loved his family deeply as well as his hometown of Mondovi.
Those of us lucky enough to know George well will always remember to hold our fork correctly!
