Hilma Munson

Hilma Bernice Munson, 98, of Mondovi, died Friday, Dec. 30, 2016, at Hillview Senior Living in Mondovi.
She was born Nov. 15, 1918, in Buffalo County, daughter of Thomas and Ella (Gunderson) Sie. She graduated from Mondovi High School.
On Sept. 1, 1943, Hilma married D. Miller Munson, in Thompson Valley. They farmed in Naples Township all their married life. D. Miller died Sept. 11, 1980.
Hilma worked various seasonal jobs in the area until she was 87 years old. She also babysat for friends and neighbors.
She was a member of Central Lutheran Church and an active member of the Ladies Aid. She was a wonderful cook; she made the best lefse around. Hilma also loved to read. As a child, she spoke Norwegian until she went to school and learned English.
She is survived by her son, Mathew Munson of Mondovi; daughter, Lois (Richard) Gruetzmacher of Oshkosh; two grandchildren, Lindsey (Shawn) McGuire of Neenah, Adam (Lindsay) Gruetzmacher of St. Paul, Minn.; one great-grandchild, Abigail McGuire; brother, Bernard (Barbara) Sie of Lake Geneva; sister-in-law, Doris Sie of Mondovi; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, D. Miller Munson; son, Joseph Munson; brothers, Milo, Arnie, Orlin and Roger Sie; sisters, Clarina Weber and Eleanor Olson.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 4, at Central Lutheran Church, Mondovi. Burial was in Naples Cemetery, rural Mondovi.
