John Paulson
John T. Paulson was born on Nov. 13, 1925, in Dover Township, to Benton and Louisa Paulson.
John grew up on his family farm where he spent many years roaming the fields and narrowly escaping trouble with his best friend and cousin, Wes Nelson.
John graduated from Gilmanton High School and went on to join the U.S. Air Force in 1950. John served for 20 years, rising to the rank of Master Sergeant and retiring with many stories that would entertain his family and friends for years.
While stationed in Washington D.C., John met the love of his life, June Thompson. They were married a few short months later, on his birthday, on Nov. 13 1954. John often said she was the best birthday present he ever received.
After his retirement from the Air Force, John went on to work at Land O’Lakes for nearly another 20 years.
John’s heart was broken when his wife June passed away last fall after nearly 61 years of marriage. Those who knew her well are sure she went ahead of him to “straighten the place up a little” in preparation for his arrival. With his passing on March 6, 2016, John and June were reunited. John was also preceded in death by his sisters, Margit Loomis, Beatrice Gilman, Alice Johnson and Borghild Paulson.
John leaves a deep hole in the hearts of many left to mourn his passing including his children, Eric Paulson of Eau Claire, Laura (Matt) Goetz of Stevens Point and his two best friends, grandsons, Hayden and Camden.
John is also survived by his beloved sister, Florence Eberhardt, as well as many nieces and nephews that will miss him dearly.
