Lady Panthers continue to search for a win

On Thursday, Dec. 10, the Lady Panthers hosted the Alma/Pepin Eagles hoping for their first conference win. Initially, the Panthers stayed competitive with the Eagles, but poor shooting plagued the Panthers. Eventually, the Eagles’ offense found their rhythm and pulled away. 

Gilmanton’s poor shooting percentage was obvious by halftime with the scoreboard reading 25-8 in favor of A/P. The Panthers played a little more aggressively in the second half, scoring 13 points while allowing 21. Since the Panthers couldn’t cut into the deficit, the girls came up short with a final score of 46-21.

Jordyn Bloom, Sadie Wulff and Rachel Hovey each contributed four points. CallieRae Long and Julia Branger led with six rebounds. Long, Branger and Bloom each contributed two assists. Kaitlyn Johnson and Long hustled, grabbing three steals each.

The Lady Panthers traveled to Independence on Tuesday, Dec. 15, and they will host Cornell next Tuesday, Dec. 22, for a varsity-only doubleheader with the girls’ game starting at 6 p.m. followed by the boys at 7:30 p.m.
