Lady Panthers still searching for conference win

On Tuesday, Sept. 8, the Lady Panthers hosted Cochrane-Fountain City. The Panthers knew it was going to be a tough game. Although the Panthers lost each match, there was significant improvement. Scores were: 4-25, 10-25, 17-25.

Senior Whitney Rud contributed two service aces. Rud led in digs followed by Rachel Hovey. Rud, Julia Branger, and Paige DeWitt had 100 percent serving for the evening. 

On Saturday Sept. 12, the Lady Panthers traveled to Melrose-Mindoro for a conference tournament. The Panthers played slow and did not play to their ability. They went 0-14 in set play for the day. Scores were: Independence: 19-25, 21-25, 8-15; Whitehall: 22-25, 14-25, 9-15; Alma-Pepin: 5-25, 9-25, 6-15; Eleva-Strum: 12-25, 17-25, 11-15; Lincoln: 18-25, 10-25. 

Paige Lieberman led the team in spike kills with 20. Jordyn Bloom was the leader in assists with 40. Branger contributed four aces followed by Hovey with three. Hovey and Morgan Fillmore finished the day with 100 percent serving. Branger had an outstanding 42 digs on Saturday.

The Lady Panthers hosted Eleva-Strum on Tuesday, Sept. 15, and will travel to Eau Claire Immanuel on Thursday, Sept. 17.
