Larry Gehrke

Larry Joe Gehrke, 68, passed away peacefully at his home, in Mondovi, Wis., on June 5, 2019.
He was born Dec. 3, 1950, in Wabasha, Minn., to the late Erwin and Eunice Gehrke. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church, in Modena, Wis. He was employed at Gehrke Floral, Gunderson Foods, Buffalo Valley Builders, a lumber mill in Oregon, and was self-employed doing chores for area farmers. He loved to go fishing at his cabin, hunt, and always had time to help others. He enjoyed going downtown for coffee, playing cards and spending time with and teasing all his nieces and nephews. He was a 1969 graduate of Mondovi High School and attended UW-River Falls. He farmed on the family farm in Modena after attending college.
Larry is survived by his six siblings, Lee (Janice), Fay (Donald) Stephensen, Linda Digby, John (Mary), Paul (Liz), and Mark (Kathy); uncle, Donald (Joan) Roessler; nieces and nephews, Shawn (Jill) Ebersold, Logan, Collin, Katie; Daniel Ebersold; Elizabeth (Daniel) Britten, Izabella, Jozephine; Michael Digby, Matthew (Emily) Gehrke, Josiah, Elisha; Andrew (Molly) Gehrke, Emery, Torin, Luella; Susan (Jeremy) Jensen, Hunter, Spencer, Jasper; Wesley Gehrke; William Gehrke (fiancé Laura), Elena Gehrke, Kelly Gehrke; Amanda Gehrke (fiancé Steve); Alexandar (fiancé Mara); cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; maternal grandparents, John and Vernie Roessler; paternal grandparents, Albert and Minnie Gehrke; uncles and aunts, Arnold and Lillian Gehrke and Edwin and Lila Gehrke.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 22, at Kjentvet-Smith Funeral Home, Mondovi. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. Private family burial will be at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, in Modena, at a later date. Online condolences may be shared at
