Mary Ellen (Alme) Helwig, 73, a resident of Woodbury, Minn. for the past 28 years, passed away Feb 10, 2017.
Mary was born Jan. 17, 1944, in Mondovi, where she was raised. She moved to St. Paul, Minn., after marrying Ken Helwig in 1965.
Mary was devoted to her family and had a deep love for the many dogs she raised over the years.
Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Ken; daughters, Kary (Dave) Schulenberg and Amy Glubka; four grandchildren; brother, Brian Alme.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Alice Alme.
A private memorial was held at her home on Feb. 16.
Donations may be made in her name to the Animal Humane Society.
