Merlin D. Becker, 84, of Mondovi, entered into life with his Eternal Father on Sept. 1, 2017, at Paradise Valley Farm, Mondovi.
He grew up in Albany Township. He married Bonnie Bauer on Aug. 23, 1955.
He was devoted to his family, a loving husband and father. He enjoyed spending time with all his family and grandchildren
He served his church as a Eucharistic minister and lector, as well as visited those in the nursing home weekly.
He was always praying for his family and others in need.
He enjoyed the outdoors, planting flowers, feeding the birds and cats. Most of all he loved his farm. He bought the family farm, along with other neighboring land, as a young man. He took pride in raising his dairy herd, and transforming the rolling hills into a productive crop farm. He talked about wanting to die with his boots on, and he got his wish. He was loved by many and always gave of himself. Now, may he rest in peace as our Guardian Angel. Merlin, you will be missed by us all. We love you.
Survivors include his children, Vern (Debbie), Steve (Elah), Dave (Robin), Linda, Francis, Mike (Amy), Rita (Jerry), Joe (Libby); nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers; one sister; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Bonnie.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered on Friday, Sept. 8, at 11 a.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mondovi. Burial immediately followed in the parish cemetery.
