Merlin Rudy

Merlin Earl Rudy, 53, of Strum, died unexpectedly on Monday, March 27, 2017, at his home.
He was born on Sept. 6, 1963, in Gilmanton, to LeRoy and Ardella (Olson) Rudy. He grew up there and graduated from Gilmanton High School in 1981. Merlin served his country in the U.S. Navy. He worked at Ashley Furniture for almost 20 years as a machine operator. He loved riding motorcycles, four-wheeling and fishing. He had a great sense of humor and was a wonderful uncle; he will be deeply missed.
Merlin is survived by his mother, Ardella Rudy of Eau Claire; sister, Dawn Wendt of Eau Claire; five brothers, Richard (Wendy) Rudy of Whitehall, Randy Rudy of Whitehall, Scott (Laura) Rudy of Huntsville, Ala., Mike Rudy of Arcadia, Virgil Rudy of Arcadia; niece, Jessy (Pat) Suckow of Eau Claire; five nephews, Cody Rudy of Whitehall, Chad Rudy of Blair, Ashton Rudy of Holmen, Alex Rudy of Holmen, Casey Laehn of Black River Falls; two great-nieces, Jadyn and Jordyn Suckow of Eau Claire; longtime friend, Bob Deetz of Strum.
He was preceded in death by his father, LeRoy Rudy, brother, Jeff Rudy.
A visitation will be held from 12 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 8, at Kjentvet-Smith Funeral Home in Mondovi.
