Mondovi boys log successful week

The Mondovi boys had a successful two games last week, winning both to improve to 4-6 on the season.
On Tuesday, Jan. 5, the boys hosted the Ellsworth Panthers in another non-conference game. The game was close early on, but the Buffaloes managed to pull away. Impressive blocks from Blake Purdy and Hunter Evans got Mondovi fans noticeably pumped up. With four minutes left in the first half, the Buffaloes led 20-10.
The Buffaloes tried their best to keep their lead, but the Panthers made a run to close the gap within the last 10 minutes of the game. But with the Mondovi boys successfully hitting the majority of their free throws, Mondovi was able to hold Ellsworth off for a final score of 53-46.
Lead scorers for the game were Greg Poeschel with 18 points and Purdy with 16. Purdy also led in rebounds with 13 while Branden Becker added nine.
The Buffaloes also traveled to Glenwood City to take on the Hilltoppers last week on Friday, Jan. 8. The boys took the win with ease; the final score was 51-35.
No further stats were available at press time.
The boys will travel to Spring Valley on Thursday, Jan. 14, and will host Boyceville in a doubleheader with the Lady Buffs on Saturday, Jan. 16.
