“I am really proud of the way our guys competed this weekend!” commented Mondovi head coach Randy Pongratz. “We seemed to wrestle better in each match as the day progressed on Saturday. It was a total team effort.
“We lost a couple starters due to injury and we had some guys step up and replace them in the final match versus La Crosse Logan. At one point we were behind by a score of 27-9. The team really raised their level of intensity and we came back for the win. If this team continues to improve as a group we will have an exciting remainder of the season.”
132-pounder Bryan Larson got his 100th career win in the first match of the day beating Joe Zamora of O-F/A/FC by a score of 9-4.
The Mondovi wrestlers traveled to Glenwood City on Tuesday, Jan. 13, for a dual meet. The Buffaloes will also host Saint Croix Central this week on Thursday, Jan. 15, at 7 p.m. and will travel to Hillsboro for a 10-team invite on Saturday, Jan. 17.
