Neil Crawford

Neil R. Crawford, 76, of Mondovi Wis., passed away peacefully at Mayo Clinic, in Eau Claire, on April 16, 2018, with his daughters by his side.
He was born May 18, 1941, in Burlington, Iowa, to Melford and Dorothy (Colby) Crawford. At a young age the family moved to Mondovi, where Neil lived the remainder of his life.
In November of 1966 he married Norma Poeschel, who were later divorced but always remained close friends.
Neil began his truck driving career that spanned over 50 years working for Marten Transport, Poeschel Trucking and Christianson Trucking. Neil had a great knowledge of horses and spent most of his life around them. He was always helping others when it came to horses or working their cattle. He was also an avid reader of western books.
Neil is survived by his daughters, Jean (Gary) Gibson and Judy (John) Schwartz, both of Eleva; grandchildren, Jenna, Heather and Brad Gibson; Morgan, Ryan and Tracey Schwartz (Brian Crandall); great-grandsons, Kasey and Korey Crandall; Norma Crawford; two brothers, Larry Crawford of Glen Rose, Texas, and Russ Crawford of Augusta; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Crawford; sister-in-laws, Sandra Crawford and Tess Crawford; former in-laws, Walter and Christina Poeschel; great-granddaughter, Kassidy Crandall.
A memorial service will be held at Talbot Family Funeral Homes, Mondovi Chapel, on Friday, April 27, at 7 p.m., with Pastor Claire Mather of Our Savior’s United Methodist Church officiating. A memorial gathering will begin at 4 p.m. until the time of the service.
