The Gilmanton boys moved to 4-0 on the season last week with a pair of key Dairyland Conference victories.

On Tuesday, Dec. 9, the Panthers traveled to Eau Claire Immanuel.

Gilmanton came out with a quick start, building an 8-0 lead. Despite the early edge, the Lancers were not going to go down that easily and picked up their defense all while scoring nine unanswered points to take the 9-8 lead. The Lancers kept up with their defense, forcing 19 turnovers in the game and getting 14 points off of them.

But the Panthers would not let that stop them, pulling away in the second half to record the win, 67-55.

Desmond Davis led the team with 23 points and 11 rebounds, followed by Devin Oesau’s 15 points and six rebounds and Damontae DeWitt’s 10 points and eight rebounds.

On Friday, Dec. 12, the Gilmanton Panthers hosted the Alma-Pepin Eagles in a game that turned out to be a dog fight from the start.

Coming into the game the Panthers knew that the Eagles had good shooters and had to play solid defense. The Panthers didn’t let the Eagles’ shooters get hot and held the 36-28 edge at half. In the second half the Eagles’ shooters started knocking down shots, finishing with six made “3s” for the game, which kept the game close until the final buzzer.

Oesau led the team with 24 points and six rebounds, while Brody Larson and Nick Urness both chipped in 13 points.

The Panthers will travel to Independence on Thursday, Dec. 18, and Cornell on Tuesday, Dec. 23.
