Richard Emerson

Richard “Dick” J. Emerson, 82, of Eleva, Wis., was called home to heaven on June 30, 2017, and is now safe in the arms of Jesus.
He was born March 18, 1935, at home, in Eau Claire County, to the late Jens and Mina Emerson. Richard attended Jensen and Eleva schools. Richard was united in marriage to Jane Thalacker, at the Eleva Lutheran Church, where he was also baptized and confirmed. Richard went to North Dakota, where he helped harvest crops. He worked for Doughboy Foods and was a rural mail carrier for the Eleva Post Office.
Richard is survived by his wife Jane; their five children, Pamela (Mike) Shafer, Steven Emerson (friend Fay), Sheldon Emerson, all from Eleva, Paula (Steven) Gullicksrud, Wayne (Angie) Emerson, Strum; seven grandchildren, Anthony Shafer, Aleasha (Byron) Brown, Christopher (Katie) Emerson, Josh (Angie) Gullicksrud, Amanda (Ryan) Van Sickle, Cory Gullicksrud (friend Sadie). Joshua (Darla) Burce; five great-grandchildren, Eclipse, Landon, Hazel, Macy, Gretta; three brothers, David (Pam) Emerson, Dennis (Ann) Emerson, David (Bev) Iverson; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. 
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jens and Mina; his sister, Mavis; brothers, Allen, John, Gary and Elwood; his grandson, Michael Emerson.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 7, at the Eleva Lutheran Church, 50553 South 2nd Street, Eleva, with Pastor Bob Castro officiating.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 6, at Eleva Lutheran Church and one hour prior to the memorial service on Friday.
