Scott Herbst

Scott Eugene Herbst, 70, of Arkansaw, Wis., died with his family by his side on Friday, Oct. 6, 2017, at Mayo Health Systems in Eau Claire.
He was born Nov. 30, 1946, in Plum City, son of Vernon and Ruth (Doughty) Herbst. He graduated from Arkansaw High School in 1964. After graduation, he attended District One Technical College in Eau Claire and then returned home to follow in his dad’s footsteps hauling milk for the next 49 years.
On July 24, 1965, he married Sandy Walter, in Elk Mound. Scott enjoyed bowling, camping and an occasional visit to the casino. He especially loved spending time on the lake with family and friends. He was a fan of the Brewers, Packers and Badgers. He loved to watch his children and grandchildren’s sporting events. He also loved his dog, Bacardi.
He is survived by his wife Sandy of Arkansaw; children, Tali (Fred) Schmitz of Mondovi, Tara (David) Laufenberg of Alma Center, Shannon (Julie) Herbst of Appleton, Heather (Brent) Weiss of Menomonie; grandchildren, Zac (Amanda) Schmitz, Hayden (Stephanie) Schmitz, Manda and Derrick Laufenberg, Spencer (Jennifer) Bauer, Carsen and Rylee Helmueller, Ashley (Cory) Poepke, Aly Poepke, Ethan and Nate Herbst, Quinn and Lexy Weiss; great-grandchildren, Hunter and Haddie Bauer, Griffin and Hannah Schmitz; brother, Brent (Jackie) Herbst; sister, Judy Harmon; brothers-in-law, Dennis Dahl, Kent “Jug” Hutter; sisters-in-law, Debby (Don) Nielsen, Candy (Duane) Ziebell; many special nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Ruth (Doughty) Herbst; sister, Sherry Dahl; infant brother, Brad; nephews, Greg Dahl and John Ziebell; brother-in-law, Dennis Harmon; sister-in-law, Judy Hutter.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 13, at the United Methodist Church in Arkansaw with Pastor Lisa Weaver officiating. Burial will be in the Arkansaw Memorial Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 12, at Goodrich Funeral Home in Durand and one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. The family requests those attending the services to wear your favorite Packer, Badger or Brewer shirt in Scott’s honor
