Wendy Hageness

Wendy Lynn Hageness, of Osseo, passed away at her home on Monday, Sept. 12, 2016, while under the care of Mayo Home Health and Hospice, with her loving family by her side.
Wendy was born March 31, 1968, to Deborah Roger, Strum. Wendy was raised in Racine and, after her mother’s death in 1979, she moved to Strum to be raised by her mother’s family. Wendy attended the Eleva-Strum School District, graduating with the class of 1985.While in high school, Wendy was very active in music. She was the first female student bass player chosen for the Wisconsin State Honors Band. After starting a family, Wendy attended UWEC, majoring and graduating with a BA Degree in Latin American Studies. While there, she had the opportunity to participate in a research project in Cuernavaca, Mexico. Wendy loved Mexico, traveling their numerous times throughout her life.
Wendy married Jon Hageness on Sept. 25, 1987. Wendy and Jon settled in rural Osseo, where they raised their children, Derek and Olivia.
Veronica Arizpe of Monclova, Mexico came as an exchange student in 2006 and has remained close to the family ever since, visiting often.
Wendy lived her life with perseverance and did not let her childhood circumstances determine her destiny. Rather, she became a beautiful and loving soul that cultivated many talents. Although Wendy had many talents, her first love was creating a warm fun-loving home for her family. Wendy was her own handyman and her boundless creativity led her to remodel their home numerous times. Wendy has many beautiful flower gardens and her own orchard from which she made the best apple pie ever! She currently had her own business (Vintage Vixen, LLC), where she restored and retailed mid-century furniture. Her customers were from all over the country, and many became close friends.
Wendy is survived by her husband, Jon; son, Derek (Lauren) Hageness of Orno, Minn.; daughter, Olivia (David Lindell) of Carroll, Iowa; her maternal grandmother, Connie Davidson of Strum; sisters, Shannon Friedrich of Florida, Deneise Yarrington (Ron) of Des Moines, Iowa, Laura Hawkins (Lamar) of Mondovi; brother, Bill Jardine, Jr. (Kathy) Mondovi; “Dad and Mom”- Garry and Sonia Hageness of Holcombe; brother and sister-in-law, Greg and Suellen Hageness of Fall Creek; nephews and nieces, Anna, Marissa and Nathan Hageness, Cody and Casey Yarrington, Paige, Cheyenne, Jazzmine, Shonnice and LaMarria Hawkins, Julia, James, Emma-Pearl and Hayden Jardine. Wendy is also survived by her “Wolf-Pack” friends.
There are no words to express the gratitude for the love, thoughts, prayers, gifts and visits extended to Wendy and her family while she fought her battle with pancreatic cancer. Heartfelt thanks to all who reached out in so many different ways during this difficult time.
Wendy lived her life strong and courageous. She was not afraid; nor discouraged, for she knew God was with her wherever she went.
Wendy, you have shown us all how to handle difficulty with strength, power and grace. Thank you for setting these examples, and giving us all something to aspire to. You will be dearly missed by all who loved you and knew you.
Wendy was preceded in death by her mother, Deborah Rogers; uncle, Phil Rogers; grandfather, Arnie Davidson.
A celebration of life will be held at Wendy and Jon’s home on Saturday, Oct. 15, A service will start at 2 p.m. with visitation from 3-8 p.m. and the life celebration to follow. Please no gifts, if you have something turquoise, please feel free to wear that in honor of her and her favorite color. Please just come to share in Wendy’s life celebration.
