Eleva-Strum improves to 2-0 in Dairyland Conference

The Eleva-Strum Cardinals football team overpowered the Blair-Taylor Wildcats 28-0 on Friday, Sept. 11.
In the first quarter, Eleva-Strum’s senior Jake Matchey tipped a pass into junior Ryan Ostertag’s hands, which forced a turnover. Eleva-Strum then capitalized on the mistake. Junior Dustyn Topper ran in a 20-yard touchdown to put the Cardinals up 6-0. The Cardinals scored once more with a 6-yard run by Quinn Olson to put the Cardinals up 14-0 at halftime. The Cardinals scored two more times in the second half to take a 28-0 lead.
The Cardinals’ strong defense held the Wildcats scoreless and kept their rushing attack well under their season average. Junior Josh Nitek led the Blair-Taylor Wildcats in rushing with 56 yards on 13 carries. Quinn Olson led Eleva-Strum with 85 yards on 14 carries.
The Cardinals are coming off a three game road trip resulting in a 2-1 record. Overall, the Cardinals are 3-1 on the year and 2-0 in the Dairyland Conference.
This Friday, Sept. 18, the Cardinals continue their Dairyland Conference schedule with their homecoming game against the Augusta Beavers.
