The Mondovi Buffaloes stomped all over their previous personal records this past week, competing at the Dunn-St. Croix Conference meet hosted by Durand at the Rolling Greens Golf Course on Thursday, Oct. 15.
The Buffs all came through the finish line strong as ever; everyone crushed their PRs that afternoon.
For the Lady Buffs, senior Maddie Gilbertson placed 13th earning her second team all-conference with a phenomenal time of 22:33. Placing 28th was senior Amanda Rud, soaring through the finish line at top speeds to finish with a fantastic time of 24:33. Next was sophomore Emily
Flaskrud, who gave it her all and was rewarded with 33rd place and a time of 24:50. Senior Emily Johnson scored 53rd place by out-sprinting an Elk Mound runner in the final stretch to finish with an incredible time of 28:23. Finally for the girls, sophomore Grace Weinzierl started and ended strong, earning her 56th place with an impressive time of 29:06.
The boys also gave outstanding performances. Senior Jason Fath ran an exceptional race, finishing just one place away from second team all- conference honors, securing 15th place with a time of 19:59. Next through the finish was junior Zach Kluge in 21st place with a remarkable time of 20:28. Junior Daniel Gruber skyrocketed past his competition for 31st place, clocking a time of 20:47, while senior Ty Parker never fails to impress his fans by sprinting the final stretch with the speeds resembling a cheetah. He snagged 51st place with a time of 22:24. Last in for the boys was senior Onno Kluge, improving immensely with a time of 24:35 in 61st place.
The Mondovi runners will next compete at Sectionals in a repeat visit to the Schultz Farm in Arcadia this Saturday, Oct. 24. Don’t miss your last chance to see the 2015 Mondovi XC team compete and continue to surpass their previous records!
