Gilmanton Board discusses tech upgrades; GHS well officially up and running

The Gilmanton School Board breezed through a relatively short business agenda at its monthly meeting on Monday, Nov. 16. Initial conversations regarding planning for future network infrastructure upgrades highlighted the business agenda.

Principal Kory Rud said the district’s e-rate funding requires the district to have a plan outlining potential upgrades, which the schools plan to compile going forward.

The Board was also officially informed that the high school’s well and water supply has now passed testing. The district had worked throughout the fall to obtain a clean result on the building’s drinking water after tests kept coming back positive for bacteria. 

Multiple measures were taken in an effort to correct the problem, including disinfecting and cleaning the well and replacing the well pump and other components.

The water officially tested negative for bacteria at the end of October, allowing students and staff to begin using the building’s water again for drinking and cooking purposes. 

Bottled water was offered for drinking and water used to prepare food in the kitchen was boiled prior to use throughout the fall.
