Dump truck rollover blocks traffic near Nelson
A load of sand as well as hydraulic fluid were spilled on County Road D in the Town of Nelson late Monday morning, April 25, after a dump truck rolled over, completely blocking the road for several hours.
According to the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Department, the driver of the dump truck from Wabasha Sand and Gravel, 49-year-old Carla Ann Williams of Alma, lost control the vehicle after entering the northbound shoulder, causing it to roll over near Deer Creek Rd.
Upon arrival, deputies found the dump truck on its side completely blocking County Rd. D. Hydraulic fluid leaked onto the roadway, which was cleaned up with assistance from the Nelson Fire Department. Sand was also spilled.
Minor injuries were reported, but the driver, Williams, refused on-scene medical assistance, police said.
Hwy. D remained closed to traffic for approximately four hours to allow for clean-up efforts and while the crash investigation was conducted by the sheriff’s department and the Wisconsin State Patrol. The incident remains under investigation.
Also assisting at the scene were Borkowski Towing and the Buffalo County Highway Department.
