Mondovi cleans up after severe weather

Pine limbs crowded the curb at the corner of Parker Ave. and Truman St. as Betty Harms worked to clear away smaller branches.

Orlon Miller of Dregney’s Tree Trimming used a bucket truck to clear away a large pine branch that plunged through the roof and siding of a garage on Eisenhower St. while Cliff Jamison worked on the ground to cut branches down to size.

A power line crossing Schmidt Road between Cream and Praag was left crooked by a tornado that passed through just after 9 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5.

The twister then struck a steel machine shed (below), hurling debris onto Hwy. 88 and across a field.

Mondovi High School youths took a time out from their Peak Performance class the morning after the storm to help residents in the Parker Ave. area clear away tree limbs and other debris.

Gary Karasch (left) received assistance from neighbors as well as friends who came all the way from Eau Claire to help clear debris. Numerous branches from about eight trees went down in the Karaschs’ large yard, which runs in between Eisenhower and Truman streets, during the storm. A good-sized garden (back) was also damaged.
