E-S School Board splits on graduation date
CENTRAL - A proposal to move the date of the Eleva-Strum High School graduation resulted in a split vote of the school board at its December meeting back on the 13th in the Central School Building IMC.
A proposal was made to move the graduation ceremony to Friday at 7 p.m. instead of the current Saturday at 1:30 p.m. on Memorial Day weekend The vote on the proposal was 3-3 on the seven-member Board as member Denise Durham was absent. A roll call vote was taken after a voice vote and the tally was Craig Marsolek, no; Amanda Necker, yes; Kris Husby, yes; Jessica Franson, no; Craig Semingson, no and Joshua Stendahl, yes. The 3-3 vote meant the proposal failed on a tie vote and that graduation ceremony will remain at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, May 25, 2024.
The Board voted unanimously to approved agenda items such as the resignation of Alissa Roemhild as Occupational Therapist; the acceptance of fitness equipment for the district from Summit Fitness and a request for unpaid leave.
A donation check of $3,000 was presented to the Board from Stacy Schaefer of Kings Valley Church to be used for student needs.
The Board went into closed session to discuss Superintendent evaluation. They came out of closed session, took no action and adjourned.
