Eleva-Strum School Board approves staffing plan for 2026-27 school year

CENTRAL - The Eleva-Strum School met April 8, just after the spring elections, for the final meeting of its old term in the Central School Building's IMC.

The Board gave its unanimous approval of the 2026-2027 staffing plan presented. The plan included the reduction of one high school science teacher following a staff retirement and the reduction of a 50 percent physical education teacher/50 percent internal substitute teacher following a resignation. Additionally, the plan included a stipend for a current special education teacher to complete her school psychologist internship within the district for the 2026-2027 school year. The three recommendations total approximately $150,000 in savings for the district to balance the budget.

Speaking of staffing, the Board approved the resignations of Nick Stowell, Physical Education Teacher and Substitute Teacher; and the hires of Carter Gunderson, High School Baseball Volunteer Coach; and
Jenna Vanderwal, Middle School Track Coach.

District health and dental insurance plans were approved unanimously by the Board as were motions to the High School Credit Through Student Portfolio resolution and a district policy on graduation requirements.
