Jackson County Board supports connecting ATV-UTV trail along Hwy. 54

BLACK RIVER FALLS - The Jackson County Board unanimously supported the use of a section of State Highway 54 for the connection of an ATV-UTV trail system in Jackson County during its June meeting at the County Government Center on the 16th.

The proposed route would include a 3,850 foot section of State Highway 54, from North Bend Drive to Sandberg Road, crossing the Mill Creek bridge, in the Town of North Bend, Jackson County.

The Board also unanimously approved Barrientos Design and Consulting Inc. continuing with a 40 percent preliminary design of a Highway Department Facility. The resolution also approved using all remaining funds of the original ARPA allocation toward the 40% preliminary design of a Highway Department facility.

In other county facility matters before the Board a resolution to approve the building a 40 x 100 foot building and 435 feet of fencing to accommodate the Sheriff’s Office evidence and storage needs was unanimously approved. The resolution approves the allocation of Ho-Chunk funds, up to $250,000 for said evidence and storage needs.

The Board also designated the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and Jackson County Emergency Management to manage and oversee general maintenance, improvements or updates to the public safety radio communications system more specifically the towers, base stations and radio equipment. Emergency Management will be updated to indicate the county’s designation or assignment to oversee the public safety radio communications system.
