Life after farming—Two Mondovi barns enjoy new purposes as part of growing trend

Brenn’s Barn Boutique is home to old, new, used, repurposed and rustic home decor and antiques to suit a wide variety of customer tastes. It’s open four weekends per year with additional items offered year-round via consignment at “The Attic” in Eau Claire.

Located on Mirror Lake’s north shore, The Barn at Mirror Lake received extensive remodeling over the past few years and hosted its first event this past summer.

A shelf behind the front counter features elements in memory of the barn’s namesake, Donnie Brenn. A toy train that belonged to Brenn was found while cleaning out the barn, Olson said, and is displayed along with his favorite fishing pole and minnow bucket.

Customers browse one of the three aisles at Brenn’s Barn filled to the rafters with home decor, antiques and Christmas items.

Shelves and crates are used to maximize display space at Brenn’s Barn, giving customers lots to explore.

Holiday greenery and Christmas decorations filled a shed next to Brenn’s Barn during its Nov. 3 and 4 opening.

With space for up to 250 guests, The Barn at Mirror Lake offers flexible wedding and event space that can be configured to suit gatherings both large and small.
