Citing the need for budget corrections to keep its fund balance from continuing to plummet, the Eleva-Strum School District is in the process of contract negotiations to outsource its transportation and custodial services. The school board also voted last week to cut all food service staff to part-time positions in order to save money on employee benefits. There is currently about $500,000 in the district’s fund balance, school leaders say, a dangerous level for any school district.

‘Shamrock Shuffle’ a rousing success; MBA reaches funding goal for new city signs

Members of the Ladies’ Luncheon Committee presented the Mondovi Business Association with an $1,800 donation check during the city’s “Shamrock Shuffle” event, held Thursday evening, March 17. The funds, derived from the committee’s holiday luncheon event in December, helped the MBA meet its monetary goal to obtain four new “welcome” signs for the City of Mondovi. Many other local businesses and individuals also contributed to the city signs fund.
